This is a common question among Border Collie guardians, and the answer isn't always simple.  It could be fear related, or you could have a hard-wired herder on your hands.  Or...it could be a combination of both.  First, we need to understand which of these categories your own dog is in, and then work to train alternative behaviours.  Impulse control, calm and focus work and, for some (with professional support), desensitisation.  I can help you work towards having a calm and confident dog, who doesn't chase cars any more.

Border Collies, and herding dogs, have been bred, for centuries, to work over huge distances, without direct human contact, or treats.  They have acute hearing, and are very sensitive to movement of objects.  In our, busy, technological world, this could be vacuum cleaners, cars, kids, scooters, joggers, cyclists, or even a ball.  Dogs can become obsessed with these things, and can also become totally overwhelmed by the constant assault on their senses outside.  Appropriate training, to help de-sensitise them and build their confidence, is the key to overcoming these challenges.
